今日は、
　　１）As requested, we are sending you our catalog and pricelist.
のように As requested　とすることの利点について考えてみようと思います。
大まかに云えば、一つ目の利点は：
「be 動詞の時制をあれこれ考える煩わしさから逃れることができること」でしょう。例えばここで、
As is requested 或いは As it is requested を考えれば、
　　　　As it is requested, we are sending you our catalog and pricelist.
も可能であり：
　　　　As it has been requested, we are sending you our catalog and price list.
も可能であり：
　　　　As it was requested, we are sending you our catalog and pricelist.
も可能、さらに前後の文脈によれば：
　　　　As it had been requested, we are sending you our catalog and pricelist.
も不可能ではなく、
　　　　As it will be requested, we are sending you our catalog and pricelist.
ですら不可能とは云えません。そして、各々の自制はそれぞれ必然性を備えているのです。
　　しかし、ここでAs requested と表せば、話し手（書き手）は煩わしい時制の束縛から解放され、読み手（聴き手）は状況に応じ、英文の意味内容に相応しい時制を想起することとなります。そして二つ目の利点は、従属節中の主語（requested の主語）を省くことにより、話の焦点を、直接、主節に置くことができることでしょう。
